Relaxing on a Wednesday evening

This is just a quick picture I took on Instagram. My husband and I were both relaxing on the couch the other night, on our laptops, and I had to take a photo. We're both total geeks. :) I love him and I love the time we have together in the evenings. It makes all the day's worries melt away.

Thank you so much to those who left comments on my post about our miscarriage. Your kind words are so appreciated. We are truly blessed with so much support during this difficult time.

Our loss

My husband and I experienced a great loss recently. We lost our first pregnancy to miscarriage. I just had a D&C a few days ago and am still healing from it. Our faith was shaken but proved to be strong, and I feel so incredibly blessed to have my husband by my side. I have great hope for the future.

Wet but happy

It's snowing at home, but here with my family in Washington it's raining as usual! I'm here for another few days and I've had a great time with my parents and my "babies..." Baby #1 turned 18 last weekend! I can't believe my little brother is a grown man now. HOLY CRAP.

This photo isn't anything special. It was just taken on my phone, and I didn't try to make it fancy. But it shows how so many days are here with my family. Luckily, we have a cozy home here and I can listen to the rain outside from my little sister's bedroom, where I'm typing from right now. :)

Halloween bonfire

Last night we had a wonderful bonfire with my best friend and her family. We spent hours just relaxing, eating treats, talking and singing and having an overall lovely evening. I LOVE photographing fire. It's so cool! Plasma is such an interesting element. And no two pictures look alike!

Credit goes to my husband for the heart picture... I got the idea and set it up, but he snapped it of my hands. Thanks, honey!

Happy almost 33!

Last night, we had our best friend over for cake and to play games since she won't be with us on my husband's actual birthday next weekend. I have limited cake decorating skills, but I did make homemade frosting and relied on M&Ms to make the cake cute. Adam loved it! :) I love celebrating my sweet husband and also love to tease him about being 3+ years older than me. And I made him blow out all 33 candles!

Our Halloween decorations

It's a bit early, yes, but I wanted to decorate before my husband and I head to Disneyland next week! It's his favorite holiday, so I love decorating and seeing his face light up. I had a lot of fun this year!

Anniversary yummies

We are big fans of food around here! Our 9th anniversary was on Wednesday and we made our annual trip to the Melting Pot. SO good. Of course I took some pictures while we were there. :)

Aspen

We were in Colorado this weekend for a family reunion on my husband's side. We had such a great time! We stayed in a gorgeous cabin in Glenwood Springs. On Friday, after a family activity, my husband and I drove through Aspen and stopped for a few minutes to walk around. This shop's door was open and the Colorado cowboy theme drew me in. I especially loved the colorful boots lined up. I'm so glad I married a western boy. ;)

Sundance Saturday

My husband and I took a lift ride at Sundance yesterday, a summer tradition. It was a perfect afternoon. I brought my big camera but took most of the photos on my phone, using Instagram. I love that app!

Sundance is so beautiful at every time of year!

Tea time

My husband and I are finally home, alone, after a wonderful visit with my family in Washington, family and friends in California and having my sister here in Utah for 3 weeks. It was fabulous! We had such a wonderful time.

Driving back from Washington this past Thursday, we stopped in the Dalles in Oregon at this sweet little tearoom. My grandparents had taken my family there before we arrived in Washington and highly recommended it. We had a quick pot of tea and scones before continuing our drive. If you're ever in the area, the Anzac tearoom, owned by the sweet Bev, is worth a stop!

Lagoon

I'm back! After a 3-month hiatus in which I had stomach surgery and pre-surgery and post-surgery illness, I finally feel well enough to take pictures again! It feels wonderful.

My little sister is here for a few weeks and on Saturday we took her to Lagoon, a local amusement park. It was hot and busy, but a lot of fun. This was the most physical activity (8 hours walking in the sun) I've done since my surgery so it was a celebration of sorts. And I'm still sore. :) Happy Monday!

You've got to dye eggs

I don't care if we don't have any kids- we can still have fun! :) We dyed eggs today before dinner and had a great time. Happy Easter!

St. Pat's day treat

Brownies, strawberries and dip. A perfect dessert, and a great opportunity for me to practice my food photography. :)

A snowy night with my girl

This photo is actually from tonight, but I had to share it with this week's Simple Things Sunday group (on this site). My little sister (who is 13 years younger than me) is visiting for 3 weeks for an early 16th birthday present. Tonight we're getting some snow and she was so excited to see it! She stayed outside for a few minutes trying to catch it and reveling in it. It was adorable.

Christmas in Colorado

Being at my in-laws' for Thanksgiving means I get to enjoy their Christmas decorations as well! My mother-in-law did a beautiful job of decorating, and I helped with some of it. I love being here in the house my husband grew up in and seeing some of the family decorations he's always loved.

A birthday wish

Since our original plans for my husband's birthday on September 30th fell through, we celebrated his birthday at dinner in Las Vegas this weekend. He chose Max Brenner and it was out of this world good! They brought him a "wish dish" with a candle and truffle for his birthday. It was so sweet and a really fun way to commemorate him turning 32!

My husband's birthday

My husband turned 32 this week. I made him a very simple (although very yummy, if I do say so myself!) cake. I love him and I was happy to have a chance to celebrate him for a whole day.

Patriotic toes (Simple Things Sunday)

We've had my brother and sister here with us for 2 weeks so far (including Disneyland!) and we get to keep them until the end of the month. We're having so much fun. I miss when they were little, but B is older now so we have some awesome girl time! Like pedicures... Just can't do that with Adam! :)
