Happy Valentine's Day!

I put together a few things for the shelf in our living room that I decorate for each holiday. It serves as our "mantel" to hang stockings on at Christmas, too. :)

I hope you've had a wonderful, love-filled day!

Light

I had a lovely evening on Monday with my husband and best friend. Going to Temple Square to see the Christmas lights is a must-do every December, and we were lucky this year to have snow on the ground.
Before we went to Temple Square, we walked around the City Creek mall across the street and watched a Christmas fountain show that really put me in the holiday spirit. This is just one of many photos I took that night, but I think this one really expresses how I felt- peaceful and full of light.

Snow!

Let's all pretend it hasn't been 3 weeks since I updated this blog, mmmkay?

It's snowing! Finally! And I'm up early for a change. Now it feels like Christmas time. :)

Headstart on Christmas!

We always put our Christmas decorations up on Thanksgiving night, so last night I started putting some together. I was trying to get a good picture and the glass was too reflective, so I thought, Aha, I'll turn off the overhead lights and try using just my phone light. Worked like a charm. :)

Getting ready for Christmas is so much fun!

Our Halloween decorations

It's a bit early, yes, but I wanted to decorate before my husband and I head to Disneyland next week! It's his favorite holiday, so I love decorating and seeing his face light up. I had a lot of fun this year!

You've got to dye eggs

I don't care if we don't have any kids- we can still have fun! :) We dyed eggs today before dinner and had a great time. Happy Easter!

St. Pat's day treat

Brownies, strawberries and dip. A perfect dessert, and a great opportunity for me to practice my food photography. :)

2012

We rang in the new year at home, but first we saw Sherlock Holmes. Great movie! A little popcorn is a must at the theater. :)

I can't wait to see what this new year holds for us.

Trying to soak Christmas in

This season goes by way too fast, doesn't it? I'm trying to do as many as Christmasy things in the next few weeks as possible. {Actually, in the next 17 days before we head to my mom's for the holiday.} These included going to Temple Square this weekend to enjoy the decorations. There were less than in years past, but it was still lovely. My husband and I had a nice time walking around in the cold and taking pictures. Merry Christmas!

Christmas in Colorado

Being at my in-laws' for Thanksgiving means I get to enjoy their Christmas decorations as well! My mother-in-law did a beautiful job of decorating, and I helped with some of it. I love being here in the house my husband grew up in and seeing some of the family decorations he's always loved.

We don't like Disney.

Many believe that my husband and I are big fans of Disney. Some seem to think that we've been to Disneyland 8 times in the 8 years we've been married. Others feel that I've been in love with the movie Alice in Wonderland (from 1951) and the characters portrayed in the movie since I was little. Many assume Adam must love The Little Mermaid. I'm not exactly sure what led people to believe these things, but I'm here to set the record straight.

We do not like Disney.

We're not big fans of the Nightmare Before Christmas.

Like I said, I don't like Alice. At all.

I do not think this little Alice holding a tiny Mickey ear ornament (in purple, my favorite color) is absolutely darling.

Adam doesn't much care for The Little Mermaid. He says he's seen better.

I don't really like Chip and Dale. They're definitely not some of my favorite characters. And it's absurd to think that I have a Disneyland Paris ornament with Chip and Dale on it from my best friend's visit to Europe in 2006.

We can't stand the iconic Tinker Bell.

We don't think much of Beauty and the Beast. And I certainly don't have the entire movie, including songs, memorized.

And above all, we absolutely abhor Mickey Mouse. He does not make me smile. At all. And he is not the sweetest character ever created.

I think you can now clearly see that we don't like Disney.

I hope there's no more confusion.

Getting ready for Christmas

Since we're going out of town for Thanksgiving, we wanted to get our decorations up this week so we could enjoy them when we get home. Tonight I was sitting on the floor, putting the tree together and enjoying some sparkling cider in my new Santa cup, and I took some pictures. It's the most wonderful time of the year!

B and I took a drive this morning and we saw this very sweet horse while we were in some fields on a small road. Merry Christmas, Mr. {Ms.?} Horse.
