Aspen

We were in Colorado this weekend for a family reunion on my husband's side. We had such a great time! We stayed in a gorgeous cabin in Glenwood Springs. On Friday, after a family activity, my husband and I drove through Aspen and stopped for a few minutes to walk around. This shop's door was open and the Colorado cowboy theme drew me in. I especially loved the colorful boots lined up. I'm so glad I married a western boy. ;)

Counting down to Disney!

This week, I made a digital countdown calendar for our trip to Disneyland in January, printed it out and framed it in our bedroom. Then we just use a dry erase marker to cross the days off. :) It was a fun little project for me!

I put Disney character silhouettes on some of the boxes. :)

Grand America Hotel- Salt Lake City, UT

My husband and I went to tea at the Grand America the other day, a favorite activity we hadn't done for a long time. It is such a beautiful hotel and a very elegant, well-priced tea (we have their delicious cocoa). We've stayed there as well and it didn't disappoint! It's also a beautiful place to have bridals or wedding photos taken- I would love to do some portraits there, so call me! LOL.

Here's a mini-tour of the hotel and their afternoon tea. Enjoy!

"Do you play... croquet?"

I always think of one of my favorite stories, Alice in Wonderland, when I see a game of croquet! My best friend's family had a fall party yesterday and set up the croquet mallets, and I snapped a picture. It was a beautiful day.

A birthday wish

Since our original plans for my husband's birthday on September 30th fell through, we celebrated his birthday at dinner in Las Vegas this weekend. He chose Max Brenner and it was out of this world good! They brought him a "wish dish" with a candle and truffle for his birthday. It was so sweet and a really fun way to commemorate him turning 32!

Bed rest

I've spent all weekend in bed or on the couch recovering from surgery so this is my current view: my laptop and my blanket. :)

Remembering 9/11 today...

A spot of tea (Simple Things Sunday)

Or at least, a nice scone! We went to a cute tea house in SLC yesterday and got a snack, then walked around Temple Square. You can see more photos by scrolling down!

My mom's locket {Simple Things Sunday}

Every once in a while, I think to polish my locket. My mom got it in England while visiting our family when she was 16, and she gave it to me when I turned 16. The Saint Christopher came with it. I've since added a Special Daughter charm and Big Sister charm, from my family. I wear my locket every day and it keeps me close to my family. I love it.

New York, New York

Nah, not the real place (I wish!). But I liked this photo from Vegas.

Simple Things Sunday

After missing a couple of weeks due to travel, I'm glad to be posting again! I was in Washington this week with my family and we visited this awesome retro store. I knew the moment I walked in that I'd have to take pictures, and luckily the owner didn't have any problems with that. Don't you love the lights?

Model train show

We went to Thanksgiving Point tonight for a model train show. It was so neat! I love miniatures, so I was in heaven.

I'm trying to be more girly. My sweet husband is helping. Yesterday I even bought new eyeshadow!

Solvang, California

This is one of the windmills in the small Danish town of Solvang, California. I hadn't been in years and was able to go last week while I was visiting my grandparents. I went with my childhood best friend. It was a beautiful, breezy day and we enjoyed lunch, browsing in the shops and eating some of the delicious pastries and cookies in the Solvang bakeries. It was wonderful!

Sunday drive

After being in Yellowstone last Sunday, today's Sunday drive just wasn't the same, LOL. But we did see some cool things.

First we drove through BYU campus where I took this picture.

Then we drove up to the state hospital grounds and saw deer in the orchard at the side of the road. Usually we only see females, but this time there was a male there.

We ended our drive at the Provo Cemetery. I love cemeteries. A lot of people find them depressing or scary, but to me they're full of history. There were several large statues on the grounds, and these two in particular caught my eye.

Old-fashioned soda fountain

On our way out of West Yellowstone, we stopped at an older-looking gas station to fill up. I was thrilled to find an old-fashioned soda fountain inside! We had to order a treat. I got a chocolate ice cream soda, Hubs got the most delicious hand-mixed vanilla shake, and our best friend got a root beer float. And I, of course, took pictures.
